Signals guide
What each field means, and how a signal changes from day to day.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
date |
The trading day the signal was generated, at that day's close. |
tidm, name, exchange |
The stock: ticker, company name, and XNYS or XNAS. |
signalType |
COTB, COTS, COTD2U or COTU2D. See The four signals. |
currentTrend |
up or down, by Gann's swing rules. |
buyAt / sellAt |
The entry level. Only one is set: buyAt on buy signals, sellAt on sell signals. |
stopAt |
Where the signal is wrong. The distance from entry to stop is the risk per share (or per point). |
barType |
The day's swing bar: up, down, inside or outside. |
moveCount |
Which day of a continuation set-up this is: 0 on the first day, then 1, 2… while it isn't filled. |
repeatCount |
How many continuation set-ups the trend has had before this one. |
How a signal changes
A continuation signal is re-issued each day until price reaches the entry or the set-up ends, so the same stock can appear on several days running with moveCount counting up. A change of trend starts the counts again.
What a signal isn't
A signal is a set-up, not a filled trade. It's the same for every subscriber, and it's information about what the method detected, not advice about your own circumstances.
